The lively city in the Pacific Northwest

Seattle is a lively city in the Pacific Northwest. It has a great food and drink scene, interesting areas, and a beautiful coastal setting. Lake Washington is to the east of the city, and Puget Sound is to the west. This makes the area perfect for boating, swimming, and sightseeing tours.

Famous Places to Visit

The view is amazing from the viewing deck on top of the famous Space Needle, which is 185.5 meters tall and was built for the 1962 World's Fair. Pike Place Market on the water is the oldest regularly operating farmer's market in the U.S. It's a popular spot for both locals and tourists. You can walk around the stands that are full of specialty cheeses, fresh-baked bread, and the day's catch. Go to Chihuly Garden and Glass to see the amazing studio glass art of Dale Chihuly. Visit Boeing Future of Flight to get a close look at the factory that makes jets.

The Coffee Culture

You can drink craft beer and wine in Seattle, but it's also home to Starbucks. You can still go to the first shop, which is right next to Pike Place Market. This city runs on coffee; it has one of the highest number of coffee shops of any city in the U.S. Seattle's Best and Caffe Vita are two of them. So are Victrola Coffee, a small-batch roaster, and Cloud City Coffee, which has an honor system for $1 a cup. Visit the Starbucks Reserve Roastery to get a taste of the famous brand's coffee culture in a way that is both interactive and forward-looking.

Beauty from nature

You can paddle, boat, sail, fish, or go on a whale-watching tour along the Pacific coast. The seas are some of the friendliest in the country. There are also three national parks just a few hours' drive from Seattle: Mount Rainier National Park, North Cascades National Park, and Olympic National Park. North Cascades National Park has 300 glaciers. People who live in Seattle may say, "The mountain is out," which means that the snow-capped 4,392-meter Mount Rainier can be seen 161 kilometers to the south. Kerry Park is a half-hectare green area on the side of Queen Anne Hill that has amazing views of the Seattle skyline, especially at night.

Hip culture and trendy neighborhoods

The Seattle Art Museum and Pike Place Market are two of the best places to visit in Downtown Seattle. Fremont is an artsy and quirky place with public murals and statues, as well as topiaries shaped like dinosaurs and a troll under a bridge. Montlake looks out over Lake Washington and is surrounded by trees. To the southwest, Capitol Hill is the place to go for theater and counterculture. And those are just a few examples. At the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP), you can learn about Seattle's long and interesting music past. This interactive museum, which was built by Frank O. Gehry, has edgy modern displays that are all about preserving pop culture. Check out the city's music scene for yourself at one of the many live music places that are open every night of the week.
